From Friday 11 to Sunday, May 13, 2012 will be held in Florence the 18th Edition of ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO, as always in the beautiful Giardino Corsini, magical corner of city centre and exceptionally open to the public for this occasion. Showcasing over 80 master craftsmen from all over Italy and from abroad, with live demonstrations of all major techniques of artisan craftsmanship, from iron to glass, from wood to fabrics, from stone to precious metals.
From 3 to 11 November, during the second edition of Florens, Sala d'arme in Palazzo Vecchio will host an exhibition dedicated to the straw hat, a tale about this traditional craftsmanship. More than 200 hats in an original installation, a photography exhibition curated by Simone Parri with Simona Fulceri lyrics, 12 models of hats made for the occasion inspired by Florens 2012 and the city of Florence and especially some practical demonstrations held by a group of craftwomen.
On Tues. Feb. 19, as an appetizer for Oscar Night, ARTIGIANATO E PALAZZO and Consorzio “Il Cappello di Firenze” present the opening of the show Hats on Film. A party will be thrown at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, with guests from the Cinema World, including British actor Julian Sands, who starred in James Ivory’s hit film “Room with a View”, filmed mostly in Florence.
